What it’s like to live in The Annex
For a neighbourhood right next to downtown Toronto, The Annex has a distinct, neighbourly atmosphere, influenced by the large student population and number of mom-and-pop shops throughout the area. This neighbourhood’s lively nightlife comes from the many students who frequent the local pubs and bars. Residents are only steps away from Mirvish Village Shopping District, filled with a range of indie stores including art galleries, craft shops, antique shops, and bookstores.
The Royal Ontario Museum is at the southeast corner of the neighbourhood, and the iconic Casa Loma is just north of it. Subway stations at Spadina Avenue and Bathurst Street connect riders to the Bloor-Danforth line, while Dupont station connects to the Yonge-University-Spadina line. There are also plenty of bus and streetcar stops throughout The Annex, making it simple to get around. Wandering the streets on foot is the best way to take in all this neighbourhood has to offer.

Homes in The Annex
Housing here is truly something special, as it features late 19th and early 20th century brick, clay, and sandstone homes in a range of architectural styles–including Victorian and Richardson Romanesque. Homes built between 1910 and 1930 are less elaborate, but beautiful examples of English Cottage, Gregorian, and Tudor-style architecture.
